While the textbook is free, it is lacking in many of the value-added outputs supplied by for-profit publishers including reviewing, editing, exercises, color graphics, and many other items. Therefore all those who adopt these materials, use these materials, or reuse these materials in another work are expected to contribute to the materials. This contribution can take many forms, a sample of which appears below. Contributions can also be created as a student exercise. For example, students might be asked to write an addition to a particular chapter as an assignment.
Here are some specific ways you can repay the karmic debt incurred by using a free textbook, and help the marketing community as a side benefit:
